Dear,
I found one critical problem from your first time setting up new Lumia 925 Phone. This error is like this: cannot restore a phone backup from microsoft cloud if you are alone and having only that phone. Here are how they are:
1. Reset Phone to factory setting by Setting ->Abbout-->reset phone
2. Following instructions, including connected to wifi and enter user name, password for microsoft account
3. Okay, this is the fun part: There are options to restore backups or set up a new phone. I choose restore backup.
4. The phone asks me for verification by my phone number (enter last 4 digit of that number) or using the email (enter the email)
5. I choose the 1st option: use my phone number to recieve the security code.
6. I wait for 30 minutes, nothing happens, try again, the same. I figured out that if the phone is not completedly finishing setting up. It cannot receive the SMS
==> Here is the point:
+ To finish restoring backup, I must get security code from SMS
+ To read/receive the SMS, the phone must be completedly restored! ==> So it is impossible to use this option.
7. I check the 2nd option: get the security code sent by email. Again, the problem is the same: How can I check email on my phone without a working phone!
I am alone in my apartment, no one around so I cannot do anything.
8. Must go around the town to borrow the laptop of friend to read the security code from my recovery email.
9. My question is: if I am on travel alone with this phone only, and my phone has problems so i have to reset it to factory settings and restore the latest backup version on cloud. How could I do that alone by myself? I would not want to expose myself to more vunerable situations like borrowing a random laptop from strange to enter my email credential because I could lose all my credential to someone (i.e., keyloggers)
I really love Lumia phone and I am going to by a new one but this problem always bothers me but My friends use iPhone and do not have this rediculous problems with icloud backups. Please tell me that are you going to change this feature to something usable or keep it in next 4 months (i cannot wait for longer, MS has bad reputation about updating software)? I am going to travel in foreign countries and this security practice makes me scare or I would use non-Lumia phone.
Thank you
