A curated list of command-line utilities written in Rust

A curated list of command-line utilities written in Rust

Note: I have moved this list to a proper repository. I'll leave this gist up, but it won't be updated. To submit an idea, open a PR on the repo.

Note that I have not tried all of these personally, and cannot and do not vouch for all of the tools listed here. In most cases, the descriptions here are copied directly from their code repos. Some may have been abandoned. Investigate before installing/using.

The ones I use regularly include: bat, dust, fd, fend, hyperfine, miniserve, ripgrep, just, cargo-audit and cargo-wipe.

Effective Modern CMake

Effective Modern CMake

Getting Started

For a brief user-level introduction to CMake, watch C++ Weekly, Episode 78, Intro to CMake by Jason Turner. LLVM’s CMake Primer provides a good high-level introduction to the CMake syntax. Go read it now.

After that, watch Mathieu Ropert’s CppCon 2017 talk Using Modern CMake Patterns to Enforce a Good Modular Design (slides). It provides a thorough explanation of what modern CMake is and why it is so much better than “old school” CMake. The modular design ideas in this talk are based on the book [Large-Scale C++ Software Design](https://www.amazon.de/Large-Scale-Soft

Binding to C Libraries with Nim

Using Swift Package Manager with iOS

Step 1:

File > New > Project...

Step 2:

Create a Package.swift file in your root project directory, add dependencies, then run swift package fetch on the command line in the same directory. We’re not going to run swift build because it will just complain.

Node graph editor basic demo for ImGui
// Creating a node graph editor for Dear ImGui
// Quick sample, not production code!
// This is quick demo I crafted in a few hours in 2015 showcasing how to use Dear ImGui to create custom stuff,
// which ended up feeding a thread full of better experiments.
// See https://github.com/ocornut/imgui/issues/306 for details
// Fast forward to 2023, see e.g. https://github.com/ocornut/imgui/wiki/Useful-Extensions#node-editors
// Changelog
// - v0.05 (2023-03): fixed for renamed api: AddBezierCurve()->AddBezierCubic().
