Everything you need to know about Shadow DOM

I am moving this gist to a github repo so more people can contribute to it. Also, it makes it easier for me to version control.

Please go to - https://github.com/praveenpuglia/shadow-dom-in-depth for latest version of this document. Also, if you find the document useful, please shower your love, go ⭐️ it. :)

Shadow DOM

Heads Up! It's all about the V1 Spec.

In a nutshell, Shadow DOM enables local scoping for HTML & CSS.

An ES6 implementation of the throttle function. "Throttling enforces a maximum number of times a function can be called over time. As in 'execute this function at most once every 100 milliseconds.'" - CSS-Tricks (https://css-tricks.com/the-difference-between-throttling-and-debouncing/)
function throttle(callback, wait, immediate = false) {
let timeout = null
let initialCall = true
return function() {
const callNow = immediate && initialCall
const next = () => {
callback.apply(this, arguments)
timeout = null
}

connect.js explained
// connect() is a function that injects Redux-related props into your component.
// You can inject data and callbacks that change that data by dispatching actions.
function connect(mapStateToProps, mapDispatchToProps) {
// It lets us inject component as the last step so people can use it as a decorator.
// Generally you don't need to worry about it.
return function (WrappedComponent) {
// It returns a component
return class extends React.Component {
render() {
return (

Vagrant Cheat Sheet

Typing vagrant from the command line will display a list of all available commands.

Be sure that you are in the same directory as the Vagrantfile when running these commands!

Creating a VM

  • vagrant init -- Initialize Vagrant with a Vagrantfile and ./.vagrant directory, using no specified base image. Before you can do vagrant up, you'll need to specify a base image in the Vagrantfile.
  • vagrant init <boxpath> -- Initialize Vagrant with a specific box. To find a box, go to the public Vagrant box catalog. When you find one you like, just replace it's name with boxpath. For example, vagrant init ubuntu/trusty64.

Starting a VM

  • vagrant up -- starts vagrant environment (also provisions only on the FIRST vagrant up)
