Hermes Translate is a real-time voice translation app that operates entirely on your device.
Hermes Translate does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data. Specifically:
- Your voice and speech are processed locally using Apple's SFSpeechRecognizer framework
- Translation is performed on-device using Apple's Translation framework
- No audio recordings are sent to any server
- No account or sign-in is required
- No analytics, tracking, or advertising SDKs are included
When using Peer-to-Peer mode, translated text is transmitted directly between your device and a nearby iOS device using Apple's MultipeerConnectivity framework (Bluetooth/Wi-Fi). This data never passes through any server controlled by us.
Conversations are stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. This data stays on your device and is not backed up to any external service by Hermes Translate.
Hermes Translate requests:
- Microphone access — required for speech recognition
- Speech recognition — required to transcribe spoken words
- Local network access — required for peer-to-peer device discovery
- Bluetooth — required for peer-to-peer device discovery
