Thin Clients as of 2026

Looking for a completely silent low power Intel based machine that can run Windows if needed. Should not cost more than a Raspberry Pi.

Intel Celeron J4105/J4115/J4125

Intel Gemini Lake architecture, designed for energy-efficient desktop systems like mini-PCs or NAS. Performance differences within the series apparently minor.

Officially supports up to 8 GB RAM, but people have put in up to 32 GB.

Thin clients

These typically only have a M.2 SATA (not NVMe) slot.

This class of machines usually comes with 4 GB of RAM but can be upgraded (expensive in 2026).

  • Dell Wyse 5070 (Intel J4105) (manual) - no HDMI but front USB 3 that apparently supports some displays?, 2 RAM slots - seems very common in homelab scene ~50 EUR shipped
  • Fujitsu Futro S740 (Intel J4105) Made in Germany - no HDMI, only DP; only 1 RAM slot - seems common in homelab scene ~45 EUR shipped
  • Fujitsu Futro S7010 (Intel J4125) Made in Germany (2019) - no HDMI, only DP; only 1 RAM slot? - seems not so common? ~60 EUR shipped

Intel Pentium J4205

Intel Apollo Lake architecture

Apparently very rare?
