| Just a general note to everyone. I’ll post this also in #programming but tomorrow afternoon at the UI App Dev Community, I’m going to | |
| talk about the meetups for Functional Programming and R. This is kinda how I think it’ll be setup. | |
| [10:55] | |
| I think there will be 2 separate meetups that will cover the same theme. For now, I’d like to keep both groups together. We had a lot | |
| of support for combined groups, although a good number of people were interested in only R or FP (but not both). | |
| [10:56] | |
| One meetup will likely take place, at lunch, one time a week at the university. A large portion of the population are from the UI and | |
| this time was very strongly requested. I think that particular meetup event will be an hour long, since it impacts people’s work day. | |
| [10:57] | |
| The other meetup will likely be in North Liberty, or Cedar Rapids. Cedar rapids has some definite interest, but I haven’t yet determined | |
| if most/all can make it to North Liberty or not. This particular meetup will likely be at night during a weekday, or in the afternoon on | |
| a weekend. Weekend afternoons were really well requested, which surprised me. | |
| [10:58] | |
| That particular meetup will likely be formatted similar to other meetups. Lasting 2-2.5 hours or so, and will likely have a heavy | |
| component on working through Project Euler or other similar types of problems. That also was requested quite abit. | |
| [11:00] | |
| For both meetups, it’ll be a combination of R and FP to start with, and will try and make it roughly 50/50 on discussions on it. For the | |
| project euler/etc type problems, using R or a FP programming language (of one’s choice) and going over one’s solutions in more a code | |
| review-like format. I haven’t thought that far ahead yet. Since I’m under a deadline of some slides/info on this all by tomorrow | |
| afternoon, I’m focusing mostly on the meetup at the UI. | |
| [11:01] | |
| If there are any questions, feel free to post them here. I’m probably going to make an anonymized version of the results available for | |
| download, and will likely do some analysis in R for the graphing/reporting. |
