Abstract

• In this project, we worked with existing HTML and CSS code, creating functionality to an application that could create custom or randomly generated motivational posters that the user could then save. There were multiple pages that needed to load and hide when called.

Overall

• I usually take the lead when it comes to teamwork. It isn't always planned, but when the need calls I quickly put plans into action. In this specific project, there were very few seperate files to work seperately on, so a lot of planning and delegating was needed in order to keep work moving and avoid merge conflicts. I kept the poject in line and am proud of the work we accomplished.
• One time that there was a disagreement between team members, we had different ideas about direction to solve a functionality issue. I had been most recently working on the project and the suggestions were things that were already tested. I thought rather than digging in on why it didn't work, it made sense to test it again for the partner to gain clarity and for overall inclusivity.

Technical

• After struggling to complete the function to avoid saving duplicate posters whilst googling options, reviewing project-1 and brainstorming with peers, I reached out to my mentor for guidance. In the end, we did not achieve functionality in time for the project deadline, but I feel good about the steps taken and about where I stand overall in the learning process.

Reflection

• Personally and professionallys, I took away that I both have what it takes and have a strong desire to continue down this career path.

• Technically I know that there is much more to learn and always will be and that is something that draws me to coding.

• When faced with technical coding problems that I am unable to figure out on my own or with the help of google, I first reach out to the cohort. Aside from the benefit to me, it also gives classmates the chance to reinforce recently learned skill. After this, I reach out to my mentor(s).

• For this next project, I want to layout a full plan before I start coding. I also need to build in more breaks. I worked for 14 hours on Saturday. I did this out of excitement more than panic, but it took it's toll on my motivation and mood the following day.

Reflection

• What is one personal/professional takeaway from this project? - I need to slow down sometimes and listen more at times.
• What is one technical takeaway from this project? -What is frustrating today will be solid tomorrow.
• Based on these takeaways, what is something you want to focus on for the next project? - Planning and pseudocoding.
