Nice recap, thanks!
I see there are some dedicated too, if so OVH has plenty of other very cheap options sold through their sub-brands:
- Kimsufi: https://www.kimsufi.com/us/en/servers.xml
- SoYouStart: https://www.soyoustart.com/us/essential-servers/
In case you didn't know ;)
you can use https://github.com/Crowd9/Benchmark or https://serverscope.io/ to benchmark your servers (i've never used the latter though).
it's a shame serverbear.com was shut down a few months ago :'(
update on linode pricing start at $5/month and linode now offer 30GB ssd on $10 plan https://gist.github.com/fakhrullah/b32fd287e2f921faa9c1961b45bba77f
Looks like Vultr now offers 1024MB RAM and 25GB SSD for $5/month: https://www.vultr.com/pricing/
@pieterdd Updated Vultr’s pricing
@fakhrullah Updated Linode’s pricing
@jarthod Added OVH’s KimSufi and SoYouStart
Can arubacloud.com be added? At the moment they provide VPS starting from 1 Euro (likely marketing). Nevertheless the company is pretty old, at least in terms of presence as web hosting provider.
OVH offers unlimited traffic on their VPS options. https://www.ovh.com/us/vps/vps-ssd.xml lists "Bandwidth - 100 Mbps - Unlimited traffic" Right now you have it as "10TB" in the table.
E: While other sources do say that speed does drop after the 10TB mark, that is different from a "real" cap. Perhaps attach an asterisk?
@queer: All of the listed providers offer "unlimited traffic", but I list the traffic you get at the advertised speed, as the speed after the traffic limit is heavily throttled, and differs from day to day even at many of them.
| Provider | Type | RAM | Cores | Storage | Transfer | Network | Price |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| VULTR | vps | 1GB | 1 | 25GB SSD | 1TB | 1000M | 2.50$ |
This is wrong, it should be:
| Provider | Type | RAM | Cores | Storage | Transfer | Network | Price |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| VULTR | vps | 512M | 1 | 25GB SSD | 1TB | 1000M | 2.50$ |
Please:
- Add digital ocean
- Mention when this was last updated
Thanks
@dareenzo: Digital Ocean is already in the lists (as "DO").
Also, you can see when it has been updated by clicking on "Revisions". Last change is: "justjanne revised this gist on Aug 3." (2017).
Please can you add DevCapsule
Thanks, @else. Should be fixed now.
Hey @justjanne! Thanks for compiling all this in one place. I just wanted to let you know about some big updates we've made to our plans over at DigitalOcean. You can check out all the details here: https://blog.digitalocean.com/new-droplet-plans/
@justjanne Thoughts on moving this into a repo instead of just a Gist? If you did, then people could submit pull requests 😄
@jpinnix: I’ve thought about that, but as all the links lead here, that’d be suboptimal. Luckily, gist is just backed by a git repo anyway, so if you fork it, I can merge your commits back into here.
@andrewsomething All the details are now updated, according to your list. Thanks.
Came here from your hn comment, the prices for hetzner aren't updated yet?
Hetzner prices are outdated.
Do these companies use KVM or container (LXC)?
Also which is your choice?
Thank you, great list. The one thing for me that’s a dealbreaker is if there’s a US data center.
Nice list here. Thanks!
@justjanne Update on Hetzner pricing https://gist.github.com/jazz27/6e889d4ad0847ab6d65c1f73d5fc46ab
Would be nice to also add https://www.exoscale.com to that list.
I forked it to make an update to serveral plans and add the $160/m section, and realized I can't make a pull request for a Gist, so I have made my changes available as an Awesome list in a normal github repository: https://github.com/leogallego/awesome-vps-price-breakdown
Everyone is welcome to fork and submit pull requests to keep the list updated. I made the proper attributions at the footer of the repository.
@justjanne The OVH 10$/mo offer now has 40GB of storage.
https://www.ovh.com/world/vps/vps-ssd.xml
hmmm... can't find that hetzner for 40$
there is one for 40Euro (which is more) hand has lower specs
I made a website that compares different VPS hosting,
also you can filter by storage/ram/CPU
and sort by pricing
Feel free to suggest anything.
I think it needs to be updated for Scaleway, can't find the same price
It would be great to add CPU Ghz value and Datacenter Locations 👍
