[WP] You stood there, looking at your friend, faceplaming "Let me get this straight, you're dating a Goddess, an actual 'divine powers, older than civilization' Goddess and you ....CHEATED ON HER!?!??" Your friend has a desperate look in their eyes "Can you help me or not?"
As I stood there in disbelief, I couldn't help but feel torn between
exasperation and concern. My friend, Josh, had managed to get himself into the
most absurdly dangerous situation imaginable. He had somehow managed to win the
heart of a Goddess, Lilaia, and then cheat on her with a mortal woman. Now he
was begging me for help, as if I had any expertise in dealing with the wrath of
divine beings.
"Okay, let's think this through," I said, trying to keep my voice steady. "First
things first, how did you even meet a Goddess?"
Josh hesitated before answering. "You remember that ancient artifact exhibit at
the museum? It turns out that one of the relics was actually a gateway to the
realm of the Gods. Lilaia found me while I was admiring it, and we
just…clicked."
I shook my head in disbelief but decided to focus on the issue at hand. "Well,
what do you know about Lilaia? What is she the Goddess of?"
"She's the Goddess of Balance and Harmony," Josh replied, his voice shaking.
"And now she's furious. I was so stupid! How could I have been so careless?"
I sighed, pondering the severity of the situation. A vengeful Goddess of Balance
and Harmony sounded like a recipe for chaos. It was clear that we needed to find
a way to appease Lilaia before things got any worse.
"Alright, let's do some research," I said, pulling out my phone. "Maybe we can
find a way to calm her down or win back her favor."
We spent the next few hours scouring the internet for any scrap of information
on Lilaia and the ancient customs of her worshippers. Eventually, we discovered
an ancient ritual meant to appease the Goddess and restore balance. It involved
gathering rare ingredients and performing a delicate dance at the foot of a
sacred altar.
"This is our only shot," I told Josh. "We need to perform this ritual, and
maybe, just maybe, Lilaia will forgive you."
As we set off to collect the necessary ingredients, I couldn't help but feel a
sense of adventure. We were about to embark on a quest to appease a divine
being, after all. We traveled to remote locations, braving treacherous terrain
and dangerous creatures to obtain the exotic components. It took weeks of toil
and determination, but we finally managed to gather everything we needed.
We returned to the city and constructed the sacred altar under the cover of
night, careful not to draw attention to ourselves. With bated breath, we began
the ritual. We lit the incense and arranged the ingredients, then performed the
intricate dance as the moon cast its silvery glow over us.
As we finished the final steps of the dance, a brilliant light appeared before
us. Lilaia materialized, her eyes blazing with fury. But as she looked upon the
altar and our sincere efforts, her anger seemed to dissipate.
"Lilaia," Josh began, his voice trembling with emotion. "I am so sorry for
betraying your trust. I was foolish and thoughtless, and I never meant to hurt
you. I only hope that you can find it in your divine heart to forgive me."
The Goddess regarded Josh for a long moment before finally speaking. "Your
actions have wounded me deeply, mortal. However, I can see that you are
genuinely remorseful and have made great efforts to atone for your
transgressions. I will grant you a second chance, but know that there will be
no more forgiveness should you stray again."
With that, Lilaia vanished, leaving us alone in the moonlit clearing. Josh let
out a sigh of relief, tears of gratitude streaming down his face.
